Use failure to fertilize.
~ Byron Davis
Incredibly, every time we look to the sky we’re looking at the past. Since light has to travel a great distance, whatever we see arrives after the event has occurred. The universe is a vast time machine.
What if we saw our failures the same way?
My name is Curt and I’m a failure. I have failed as a student, failed as an employee, failed as a husband, a son, a brother and a father. I have failed to forgive, failed to act and failed to accept responsibility.
But I have not failed to learn.
As I reflected on the past year, it occurred to me that 2014 – more than any other previous year – was classroom season. Like a sponge in the rain, knowledge flowed into me more than any other time in my life and I absorbed it all.
This is where I am at right now in my life. I’m not sure where you’re at, but I encourage you to open your eyes. Stare your failures down, learn from them and remember, just like looking up at the stars, what you see already happened.
It’s already moved on, and so should you.
Fail on!
